Guide to Clowes Lock – Rideau Canal

The Rideau Canal is due to open to navigation on May 20, 2022. Seasonal permits, including canoes and kayaks, are now available with significant discounts if purchased before March 31, 2022.

The entrance to Clowes Lock is east of Merrickville on Highway 2. Keep a good lookout, it is signposted, but looks a bit like you are driving into someone’s yard. Parking is just as you enter the property although it seems to be OK to drive down to the lock to drop off your kit.
